Our story
Founded in 1967 by Mr. Lim Boon Kwee, B K Lim Stone and Construction Pte Ltd stands on nearly six decades of deep industry expertise and proven execution. Mr. Lim is widely recognised in Singapore as a pioneer in the stonework and tiling industry, having played a defining role in shaping large-scale stone supply and installation standards locally and regionally .
Mr. Lim began his career as an apprentice, training under a master craftsman and spending four intensive years mastering the fundamentals of tiling and stonework. That early foundation instilled in him a disciplined approach to workmanship, material selection, and long-term durability—principles that continue to guide the company today.
In 1967, he co-founded Hua Tong Pte Ltd, specialising in mosaic, terrazzo, parquet, ceramic, marble tiles, and Shanghai plaster. As Managing Director and Chairman, he gained hands-on experience delivering increasingly complex supply-and-install projects. In 1975, Mr. Lim established BK Lim Co as a sole proprietorship, marking a decisive step toward building a fully integrated stoneworks business.
By the late 1970s and through the 1980s and 1990s, the company had grown into one of Singapore’s leading stoneworks suppliers and installers. With in-house manufacturing facilities located at Tuas Crescent, B K Lim developed end-to-end capabilities—design, processing, fabrication, supply, and installation—executed locally and delivered directly to major project sites. This integration allowed the company to maintain tight quality control, meet demanding schedules, and handle large-scale commercial and infrastructural developments.
During this period, Mr. Lim personally led the delivery of numerous landmark projects in Singapore, including Ngee Ann City, Raffles Place MRT, Marina Square, Republic Plaza, Prudential Tower, Meridien Hotel, Valley Park Condominium, Anchorage Condominium, and multiple MRT stations and headquarters. These projects, many with multi-million-dollar contract values, cemented the company’s reputation for reliability, technical competence, and execution at scale. The company’s footprint also expanded into Malaysia, delivering stone supply and installation works for high-profile residential, hospitality, and institutional developments.
To meet the demands of such projects, Mr. Lim travelled extensively across Asia and Europe to source premium stone materials directly from quarries and established manufacturers. This global sourcing approach ensured consistent quality, specification compliance, and competitive pricing—long before international sourcing became common practice in the industry.
In 2002, leveraging decades of experience and international relationships, Mr. Lim expanded operations overseas by establishing BK Lim International Marble Company in China. Backed by significant investment, the factory in Fujian was equipped with advanced European machinery and operated as a fully integrated stone-processing facility. From raw material import to fabrication and export, the business served markets across ASEAN, Europe, and the United States, further strengthening the group’s international capabilities and supply chain resilience.
Today, B K Lim Stone and Construction Pte Ltd continues to build on this legacy of craftsmanship, scale, and credibility. With Mr. Lim still actively guiding the business, the company remains grounded in its founding principles: quality materials, honest pricing, technical excellence, and dependable delivery. What began as a small tiling operation has become a trusted industry name—proven across decades, projects, and borders.
